Where is water found? The ocean holds 97 percent of the Earth's water; the remaining three percent is freshwater found in glaciers and ice, below the ground, or in rivers and lakes. Of the world's total water supply of about 326 million cubic miles of water, over 96 percent is saline, found in the ocean.
2
Point Source Pollution discharged from a single source. For example: factory, waste water treatment plant, and leaking oil tanker.
3
Non point source Comes from many different sources that are often difficult to identify. For example, a river can be polluted by runoff from any other land surface.
4
Water treatment steps Filtration Settling tank Aeration tank second settling tank Chlorination
5
Problems!! Plastics pollution has a direct and deadly effect on wildlife. Thousands of seabirds and sea turtles, seals and other marine mammals are killed each year after ingesting plastic or getting entangled in it.
6
Oil spills Accidental oil spills like the Exxon valdex, galapagos islands. Oil spills are responsible for 5 percent of oil pollution in the oceans. And the rest comes fro city and towns.
