3. Louis Sachar was born on March 20, 1954 in East Meadow, New York. He stayed there until third grade when he was nine he moved to Tustin, California. His father, Robert, was a salesman on the 78th floor of the Empire State Building. His mom, Ruth, was a real estate agent. He enjoyed school and was a good student, but it wasn't until High School that he really became an avid reader. Sachar went to college in Ohio, at Antioch College, but had to leave because his father died. He went to the University of California for economics and then he went to Law school. During his time in California, he was a teachers aid at a local school. He currently lives in Austin, Texas. He is married, has a daughter and a dog. He likes to write for two hours every morning.
