The changing world… The pace of change is accelerating, due to: the explosive growth and accessibility of information, the increasing number of highly skilled work force engaged in research and development, and the increasing number of countries capable of contributing to leading edge Research and Development.

In the next 5 years Waterloo will face a world with: An increasingly competitive market for: (Good/excellent quality) students – undergraduate?/graduate Faculty/Staff Research funding Increased government quality and accountability requirement Major demand and opportunities for new technologies (e.g. ICT) More globalized PSE league in which performance is evaluated against international (as opposed to national or provincial or even U15) rankings and benchmarks
