Your login id is your first name. your last name without any spaces. Your initial password is password. Click on the link that says create project. Type in the information from your paper. Then, click submit. California Standards: 7a-d: The frequency of an allele in a gene pool of a population depends on many factors and may be stable or unstable over time. 8a-e: Evolution is the result of genetic changes that occur in constantly changing environments. Essential Questions: What is evolution? How does it occur? How does it compare to adaptation? What role does natural selection or artificial selection play? Why is geographic isolation key in evolution? LEARNING OBJECTIVES FOR STUDENTS: Given: A list of questions, the common and scientific names for an organism that the students choose, and their computers the learner will: create a digital presentation discussing evolution, natural selection, and adaptation about a native California species by: analyzing the differences between an endemic species and a related species in the US, proposing possible causes for those differences (natural selection forces), and predicting what types of changes might result in the future due to climate change Assessment: Benchmark practice problems

Individual Instruction: If you have not done the three assigned sections on Achieve 3000 (Theory of Evolution, Evidence for Evolution, and Formation of New Species), complete those first. Log in using common login (https://atams.edelements.com)https://atams.edelements.com Click on Achieve 3000 Click on the Biology link on the left hand side and then click on the Biological Evolution link on the right hand side Take the vocabulary quizzes for each of the three sections, read the text of each of the three sections, and then take the reading assessment quizzes for each section. Work on the practice test problems provided. Note: your PSP will be collected next week. If it is not up to date, you have until Monday/Tuesday of next week to get it up to date. Direct Instruction: Mini-white board practice for benchmark. Each correct answer you get will result in you earning one ticket for a drawing for a $10 I-tunes gift card. Collaborative Station: Present your project to your table mates (each of the three of you should evaluate a project). One of the STLs should be present to hear what you are saying and to look at your presentation. They may have questions for you.

Mandatory Biology Tutoring If you (do/did) not attend tutoring on Monday afternoon for biology, you must attend 2 hours of tutoring either: – Friday 3:45 PM to 5:45 PM – Saturday during your off period (people that don’t have history and are good students) (9:45 AM to 12:45 AM)
