HP was created after Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard graduated from Stanford University in 1935. The company originated in a garage in Palo Alto, California during a fellowship they had with a past professor Frederick Terman at Stanford. Terman was a mentor to them forming the company. In 1939 HP was created with an investment of 538.00 dollars. Hewlett and Packard flipped a coin to determine if the company would be called Hewlett-Packard or Packard-Hewlett. Packard won the toss and decided to put Hewlett's name first. He felt it flowed better that way. Of the many projects they worked on, their very first financially successful product was a precision audio oscillator, the Model HP200A. Their innovation was the use of a small pilot light as a temperature dependent resistor in a critical portion of a circuit, the negative feedback loop which stabilized the amplitude of the output sinusoidal waveform. This allowed them to sell the Model 200A for $54.40 when competitors were selling less stable oscillators for over $200.. Founding

The reason I chose HP as my subject is because HP has a huge presence here at SLCC. The majority of the computers that SLCC bought for its campuses are HP computers, like the ones in the student labs and staff computers as well. It made me wonder why HP? Because they clearly bought hundreds maybe thousands of computers for the campuses so they better be buying a quality product since they bought such a mass amount of them. HP’s presence at SLCC

So the question is why would SLCC buy hundreds or thousands of HP computers when there is many different computer brands that could have been chosen instead? Were the HP computers a good quality product that would last? Are they cheap? How did they compare to the competition? So to answer these questions I decided to do a little research on our product. Why HP?

The HP computer that has a mass presence here at SLCC is the HP Compaq 8000 elite. HP Compaq 8000 Elite PC is engineered to meet enterprise computing needs, from lengthy life cycles to stable hardware and software images, this platform delivers the technology needed. The 8000 elite has a 3.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Dual Core E8400 Processor 6MB Cache 4GB of RAM and a 160GB SATA Hard Drive The HP Compaq 8000 elite costs about 300 for a brand new one today and gets a 4 out of 5 star review. I chose to do my report on HP for a few different reasons. For one I really couldn’t think of anything on the day that I chose my topic so I just did it on the brand of computer I was using. I then noticed that most of the computers here at SLCC are HP computers. I also have a HP laptop at home and I think it’s a really great laptop so I wanted to do some research and learn more about the company. Why I Chose HP

All in all I think the HP Compaq elite 8000 is a good quality product. It wasn’.t very expensive because a lot of the competitions prices were a bit higher than the HP. Also the computer got great reviews saying that it’s a quality product that will last many years. Other than the elite 8000, HP has definitely made a name for themselves. They make quality products at good prices which is why they are number 1 in computer sales. Conclusion
