5. What is a parenting class? Is training for parents to build skills to increase healthy behaviors and improve their family relationships Why a prevention program for parents ? Because there is clear evidence that children learn the practices, attitudes,values and behaviors of their parents. Who should attend ? Parenting classes are for all parents

W orkshops: Los Niños Bien Educados (Children Well Educated) –Purpose: To enable parents to assist their children with the challenges of growing up in the US –Target Group: Parents with children 2-10 years old – 6 sessions of 2 hrs each Common Sense Parenting – Purpose: To enrich parents with daily methods to improve children behavior – Target Group: Parents with children 5-18 years old –6 sessions of 2 hrs each Different children, Different strategies

This program has been offered and taught in schools throughout the district including Galveston Elementary, Knox Elementary, San Marcos Elementary, Hartford Elementary, Bologna Elementary, Frye Elementary. It has been made available at different times including mornings, early evenings, nights and weekends. Length of classes are somewhat flexible.
