Since there are so many animals they are put into different groups according to similar characteristics

Vertebrates Animals with a backbone or spinal column Invertebrates Animals without a backbone or spinal column All of the groups we are looking at today are vertebrates except insects.insects

Cold-Blooded Live both on land and in water Skin is moist Found in the tropics They are vertebrates Most live in or near water or damp places
