22 Study Strategies for Japanese
What strategies or techniques have helped you most when studying a foreign language? What strategy, if any, do you use when studying a foreign language that you might not when studying another subject??

23 Study Strategies for Japanese
Study everyday! Even just 10 minutes can help you retain the language. Don’t cram too much in at once Bursts of minutes is better than one 3 hour study session Use the language as much as possible Participate in class, come to lab, practice with others, and make Japanese friends! Don’t be afraid to make mistakes Mistakes can become valuable tools for learning a language. Talk to yourself (seriously) When you’re studying, say things out loud. Review, review, review Language is kind of like math. It builds on itself. Don’t forget previous material!! Don’t focus on one thing too much Language includes reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Practice ALL of these.

24 More Strategies for Success
Minimum: Come to every class & participate fully in every activity Do all workbook assignments -- on time Be prepared for every quiz & test More Strategies: Make good use of the language lab and other resources Participate in extracurricular activities Form a study group Get a native-speaker language partner Flashcards or flashcard apps
