P3TL 12 Executive Summar Part Moored Surface BuoyOcean Buttom Pressure EXISTING INSTRUMENT 12 Sea Environmental Monitoring Module Distributed location : Malacca strrait, Thousand-Islands (Java), Batam, Masalembo, Jepara, Bawean Sensors: Meteorological, air-pressure, wave-height&direction, nutrient analyser, Oxygen, current meter, radioactive, temperature-profiler, pressure sensor None TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION OF PROPOSED INSTRUMENTS Consist of solar panel and batteray, CPU and a Processor, storage system, Comucation equipment, meteorology sensors Alternate oceanographical data such as wind direction & speed, temperature, humidity, CTD, surface waves & current are available on transmitting by request in monthly, quarterly up to yearly format Proposed : 15 moored surface buoys will be deployed : 10 of Germany and 5 of Norway Proposed location Fig. 6 (to be discused) along west Sumatra, Sunda Strait, South Java, South Bali and Nusa Tenggara, Banda Sea, north of Papua, north and east of Sulawesi, Maluku Additional sensors: surface wind, temperature & humidity, CTD, wave height & direction, current speed & direction High efficiency buoy device operational base Consist of bottom pressure sensor, acoustic link transmitter ( to the surface buoy) and an acoustic release. Data transmission interval: Normal mode (15’) and tsunami mode (1’) Normal mode is set for normal operation (no tsunami) Tsunami mode is triggered when a detectable sea surface anomaly/spikes occurs, and a tsunami mode will last for 4 hours Proposed : 25 BPS will be deployed: 20 of Germany and 5 of Norway Deployment site: near trench to the fore-arc basin direction (to be discussed) along west Sumatra, Sunda Strait, South Java, South Bali and Nusa Tenggara, Banda Sea, north of Papua, north and east of Sulawesi, Maluku. Interim Stage: 5 BPS at west Sumatra (Mentawai), Sunda Strait and south Java (see map below) NETWORKS For tsunami data purpose: one way radio/ satelite comunication For alternate data purpose : two way radio/ satelite comunication Recommendation telecommunication system: near VSAT (first level), or GARUDA (PASTI), IMARSAT. National Tsunami Center (BMG and/ or BPPT) distributes data to various users (BPPT, LIPI, DKP, etc) One way acoustic link to the surface buoy One way acoustic link from the ship/surface to the acoustic release OPERATION & MAINTENANCE MAINTENANCE by semester, and/or by demand: performed by P3TL-BPPT with supports from DKP & Baruna Jaya (RV BPPT/LIPI) Operational Normal mode: data sampling rate 15’ and data transmission 1-hr Tsunami mode: data sampling rate 15” dan transmission rate 1’ for 4- hours. Maintenance Estimated lifetime 1-year, need battery replacement and routine maintenance yearly. Backup buoys should be available should one fail to operate. ADDITION, UPGRADING 5 of 12 unit environmental buoys to be upgraded National development for micro-satellite to provide data collection platform Sensor OBS (Ocean Bottom Seismograph) Other sensors related to the tectonic activities.
