Ancient Egyptian Traditions
2
Egyptian Gods The Ancient Egyptians are pantheistic. Their gods are represented as animals with human heads. Because of this, certain animals, such as cows and cats, are very holy to the Ancient Egyptian people.
3
Egyptian Fishing Ancient Egyptian fishermen used large nets to catch fish. They row a boat to the middle of the lake, then drop the net in the water, pulling it behind them to the shore. When they get to shore, hundreds of fish are caught in the net.
4
Egyptian Battles The Egyptians had a very powerful army and could conquer nearly any city they sought out to capture. Egyptians were very clever and took over a lot of cities thought to be impregnable. The army consisted of many thousands of soldiers. The Egyptians were famous for their skilled archers and charioteers.
5
Egyptian Pyramids The Egyptian Pyramids were built as burial places for the Pharaohs of Ancient Egypt. After their death, people gathered at the late pharaoh’s pyramid. If the pharaoh had ruled well, the people would yell. If the people yelled, then the burial ceremony went on. If the pharaoh had reigned poorly, the people would stay silent, and the pharaoh wouldn’t be buried in his pyramid. Therefore, some of the pyramids of Egypt are empty inside, such as the tomb of King Cheops I.
6
Egyptian Slaves After conquering a village, the Egyptians would take 25-70 of the strongest men as slaves. Unlike most early civilizations, slaves were treated the same way as most people, except they worked without pay. Slaves worked in the fields, on the pyramids, and with the priests.

Egyptian Deer Hunting To hunt deer, Egyptians used fast dogs. These dogs found deer and chased them toward the Egyptians. When in range, the Egyptians would shoot arrows at the deer.
