2 Overall Goal Plan and implement a needs assessment in partnership with selected nursing programs representing diversity in educational offerings, geographic region, student body and faculty. 2

3 Purposes of ESWSFI  Reviewing existing faculty staffing challenges across Maryland by program level  Investigate current efforts aimed at managing staffing challenges in Maryland  Explore additional solutions while managing all data in a central location.  Gain a broader understanding of regional similarities and differences in the shortage of nursing faculty and preceptors  Build bridges for collaborative problem-solving 3

4 Aspects of the Needs Assessment  Identify participating schools  Gather demographic information and quantitative data  Administrators who do staffing  Collect qualitative data  Administrators who do staffing  Faculty with interest in faculty shortage and staffing solutions  Faculty who orient graduate student preceptors 4

5 Timeline  Invitation to participate-today!  Confirmation of participant schools by Oct. 30, 2015  Development of public website by Nov. 15, 2015  Demographic/quantitative surveys-completion by Dec. 20, 2015  Administrator interviews by March 1, 2016  Faculty focus groups by March 1, 2016  Data analysis by April 30, 2016  Recommendations by May 15, 2016  Feedback on recommendations by June 15, 2016 5
