12 Multiplexing Multiplexing or “Pooling” is use of hardware and/or software that reduces the number of devices or users that directly access or use the software on a particular server A CAL is required for accessing the multiplexing or “pooling” software or hardware front end A CAL is not required for data extracted and made available in static format with no direct links (e.g. printed reports, PDF-files etc.)
