3. Literacy and Language Reading is very important in P6. The emphasis on reading in KS2 is on comprehension – an understanding and responding to the texts. silent reading class novels homework If your child has completed their reading book quicker than the time given they must read other sources (books taken from the school library or personal books).

4. Mathematics and Numeracy Learning times tables is CRUCIAL. These should be covered every night. Children should have a rapid, random recall of all number facts (multiplying and dividing) of all tables (x2 – x12)

8. Homework Homework will be set every day and is related to what the children have been learning in class. Spellings will be given every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Tables and number facts should be revised every evening for quick recall. Please listen to your child read and ask them to tell you about the story or characters.

9. Homework Maths homework will be given on a Monday and Wednesday. English homework on a Tuesday and Thursday. Homework should take 30-45 minutes to complete Presentation should be neat with dates and titles underlined twice in red or green pen. Please sign your child’s homework book and if you have any concerns make a note at the bottom of the page.

11. PE PE takes place on Tuesday. Please ensure that your child has their kit.  yellow top  Navy track bottoms or shorts  Trainers or plimsolls  Swimming will begin 4 th February for 9 weeks and will work towards their swimming badges.

12. Playground Buddy System P6 will be given specific training in becoming a playground buddy. This training will begin in October for 5 weeks.
