A MANAGER /OWNER’S GREATEST TOOL DIGITAL DVIDEO RECORDING SYSTEMS

TYPICAL SCENARIO THE OWNER/ MANAGER WORKING 7 DAYS A WEEK FROM OPEN TO CLOSE. While the owner is working the cash register at the front, items are now walking out the back door by anyone who can get away with it. There are customers walking around the store aimlessly, seeking out help, there in the corner are your employees talking among themselves, ignoring those customers. Now, the owner/ manager runs to assist that customer in need of help, now what stops that cashier from pocketing a little extra cash in the form of over rings, a sweet hearted deal, or a voided sale. Or the delivery person who conveniently forgets to hand in the money from a recent delivery. Then there is the delivery person who takes an extra pizza on his way out the door. Vendors are bringing in 7 cases of product, and the owner is so busy that he/she signs for eight cases of product, as the vendor now walks out the door with a smile on his face. DOES THIS ALL SOUND FAMILIAR, IT HAPPENS EVERYDAY, IN EVERY PLACE OF BUSINESS, SOME MORE THAN OTHERS, VARYING ON THE TYPE OF BUSINESS.

INTERESTING POINT Now we know, every business experiences some type of loss in their everyday operations of a business. This may occur in one or in all the following ways: Shoplifting (1 out of every 7 customers ). Vendor Fraud (paperwork discrepancies to actual theft) Employee theft (1 out of every 5 employees will steal, and 1 out of every 5 employees will never steal, and the other 3 employees will sit on the fence, but will take the opportunity if it presents itself.) Employee Productivity (The average employee will work 80% of the time, when he/she is working with a member of the management staff.) WHEN THESE FACTORS ARE ADDED UP, THEY TOTAL BETWEEN 3% TO 6% OF GROSS SALES THAT ARE LOST EVERY YEAR.

SHOPLIFTING 1 OUT OF EVERY 7 CUSTOMERS, IS A POTENTIAL SHOPLIFTER. EXAMPLE: SEVENTY (70) CUSTOMERS ENTER THROUGH YOUR FRONT DOOR, THEREFORE TEN (10) OF THEM ARE POTENTIAL SHOPLIFTERS. EACH ONE PILFERS $1.00 IN MERCHANDISE DAILY, THAT ADDS UP TO $10 A DAY, IN WHICH IS $300 PER MONTH.

PRODUCTIVITY THE AVERAGE EMPLOYEE WORKS AT 80% OF THE TIME WHEN MONITORED BY A MEMBER OF MANAGEMENT, WHAT DOES HE OR SHE WORK WHEN NOT MONITORED BY MANAGEMENT? 65% EXAMPLE : AN EMPLOYEE IS PAID A RATE OF $ 8.00/HR. WHEN THIS EMPLOYEE IS MONITORED, YOU LOSS $1.60/ HR., WHEN THEY ARE NOT MONITORED YOU ONLY LOSS $2.80 /HR. TIMES THAT BY AVG. HRS THAT EMPLOYEE WORKS ALONE, FOR DEMOSTRATION PURPOSES, THE EMPLOYEE WORKS ALONE 16 HRS / WEEK, IN WHICH EQUALS TO $179.20/ MONTH IS LOST.

VENDOR FRAUD BETWEEN PAPERWORK ERRORS AND THE ACTUAL VENDOR THEFT IS 1.46% OF TOTAL INVENTORY DOLLARS PER MONTH. THAT IS A LOSS, THAT FALLS UNDER SHRINKAGE IN WHICH COSTS BETWEEN 6 AND 12 TIMES THAT LOST VALUE IN ORDER TO REPLACE IT PROPERLY. AMONG THOSE COSTS ARE THE TRANSPORTATION, PACKAGING, AND LABOR COSTS INVOLVED WITH THOSE ITEMS.

EMPLOYEE THEFT THE AVERAGE EMPLOYEE WILL PILFER EVERYTHING FROM OFFICE SUPPLIES TO ACTUAL MERCHANDISE ON THE SHELVES TO THE ACTUAL CASH IN THE REGISTER. THAT 1 OUT OF EVERY 5 EMPLOYEES WILL STEAL $1.00 FOR EVERY HOUR WORKED, AS A CONSISTENT FIGURE THROUGHOUT, FOR AN AVERAGE OF $96 TO $160 PER MONTH.

THOSE NUMBERS ADD UP, CAN ANY BUSINESS AFFORD TO LOSE THIS MUCH OF THEIR SALES ?

A SOLUTION ON THE HORIZON What if I can say to you; I can assist you in limiting and possibly stopping the losses that are eating away at those profits. I can make you a fly on the wall and you can be at work when you are not even there. 13 CAN YOU SEE ANY REASON WHY YOU WOULD NOT HAVE THIS IN YOUR PLACE OF BUSINESS OR WHY THIS WOULD NOT BE AN EFFECTIVE MANAGEMENT TOOL ?

BEFORE YOU ANSWER THAT, FIRST LET’ S LOOK AT THIS; 1.First of all, when a shoplifter knows that they are being observed, they now think twice about attempting a criminal act, limiting the opportunity. 2.Employees when they know there is a chance they are being observed they act in the same professional manner as if you were standing next to them. 3.Vendors now entering your place of business, now knowing that you are there to do business and you have a watchful eye on all that occurs. 4.You can now not only catch when your employees do the incorrect thing but catch them doing the right things and watch how contagious it is among the other employees. 5.Watch as Workers Compensation issues fade away. 6.Notice how confident and secure your employees feel, especially when you are not there. 7.You will now see your sales increase, and your business prosper more than ever before.
