The Tech Plan Process to Date 1.Creation of State & Board approved technology plan. 2.Site visits to all schools to analyze current technology needs 3.District Tech Committee collaboration & prioritization of short and long term plans.

Level I Technology Plan Implementation Year 1 Maintain, upgrade or replace labs as needed. Pilot programs - design based on research and ISTE standards

Level I Technology Plan Implementation Year 1 (continued) Equip “Standard classroom” - technology hardware Provide opportunities for developing new instructional strategies and obtaining innovative technology hardware and software to teachers in PLCs who complete specific training for pilot programs and classrooms.

Support 21 st Century research and critical thinking skills by integrating Technological Skills and Information Literacy as components of the core curriculum. Major Goal - Major Outcomes

Priority 1- Lab Upgrades

Provide reliable access for whole class instruction – insures maximum use of instructional time New Lab equipment will maintain current programs and allow for expansion of new programs during pilot implementations New equipment insures that, for the near term, new applications can be made available to TTUSD students.

Priority 1- Lab Upgrades Special Needs populations share equal access and learning opportunities Increase student access to technology so that all students can develop similar skills, have similar preparation for next grade level

Priority 1 - Lab Upgrades Skills learned in Labs can be applied in classrooms as new equipment is purchased or older equipment is cycled into classrooms for use. Addresses Measure A Goals Current technology personnel support this model at this time Saving of Tech Staff Time in Maintenance

Standards from the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Exploratory Primary Level K-3 Students will use Internet / networks for teacher-led discovery Students will receive exposure/use of Internet for communication Students will learn to use input technologies e. g. keyboard, mouse Students will learn to create with primary level word processing tools and folders Students will learn to use primary level graphic tools, organizers Students will use primary level reading and writing software programs Students will present information using simple presentation tools Students will be introduced to technology use in society

Standards from the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Intermediate Level 4-6 Adventure Students will be exposed to Information Literacy (i.e. Internet Research) Students will communicate / collaborate using basic tools i.e. email, chat Students will organize and classify information with mapping tools Students will proficiently create ideas using word processing tools Students will present information with graphic and presentation tools Students will improve skills with reading and writing software programs Students will regularly use information organizers and calendars Students will apply copyright and responsible, ethical and safe technology use

Priority 2 -Pilot Program- Netbooks Netbooks at Sierra High School The personal computer has revolutionized every other aspect of society and one expects that the same should be true for education. And now computing is affordable, durable, portable.

Priority 2 -Pilot Program- Netbooks Netbooks at Sierra High School Students learn from a variety of sources and develop critical literacy skills by considering multiple perspectives, bias and evidence. Teachers will make greater use of primary source materials in the curriculum. Computer fluent students shift from being mere consumers to producers of knowledge and other forms of creative expression.

Priority 2 -Pilot Program- Netbooks Netbooks at Sierra High School Students can contribute ideas and artifacts to the digital world that will be admired and useful. The quantity and quality of student writing will increase. -Peer-editing to be commonplace. -Students will create publications each year worthy of public distribution via print, video, audio or the World Wide Web. Writing to learn and writing to share knowledge. Telling stories to different audiences.

Priority 2 -Pilot Program- Netbooks 1:1 pilot program – Sierra High – Small population provides ideal trial group – Identify and solve implementation challenges. – Provide vocational training integrated with curriculum instruction – No facility for a lab Security policies created and modified Bandwidth updates by 2011 – multimedia access, cloud computing, etc

Priority 3 - Standardized Classroom Teachers must be users Access to online curriculum materials Teachers must model 21 st Century Literacy Skills Similar equipment allows PLC’s collaboration, instructional planning, and home-school communication.
