2 MET Five Year Water Supply Plan In an effort to reduce water demands and increase local supplies, MET’s Five Year Water Supply Plan will: Seek additional water transfers Seek additional water transfers Work on near-term Delta improvements Work on near-term Delta improvements Accelerate local resource projects Accelerate local resource projects Increase conservation efforts Increase conservation efforts

3 Increase Conservation MET estimates Conservation can save up to 200,000 AF per year. 5 MET Prerequisite Policy In order to encourage water agencies to adopt/update their water ordinances, MET is linking access to funding in the following programs: –Enhanced conservation grants–$2 Million/year –Public Sector Program–$15 Million/year –Turf Removal Pilot Program–$7 Million/year –New Local Resource Projects–$ >20 Million/year

7 Recommendations Based on the concerns and issues raised, MWDOC staff would recommend the following: –A more adaptable Model Ordinance for wholesale agencies & special districts –One year time period to report back to the MET board as to the status of agencies’ ordinances –No Prerequisite
