Quotes: Written discussion on Of Mice and Men On the walls, there are multiple quotes from Of Mice and Men that are on colored papers. YOU will be commenting on each quote/writing on the papers below each quote. About 2 people will start at each quote, then when you finish your comment, wander to another quote. NO MORE than 2-3 people at each quote at a time. You may also comment on other people’s thoughts, but try to ADD to the conversation and further it. Just saying you “agree” does not add to the conversation. Put your initials next to your comment.
9
Questions to consider when looking at the quotes… What might you learn about a character or a conflict from this quote? Does this quote develop a theme of the book? How? How does this quote make YOU feel? What might be important about this quote? What questions do YOU have about the quote? **A couple of purposes in this activity: 1) It may help you clarify your thoughts about a character or a situation in the text by reading what others wrote. 2) It helps you to see which pieces of a text may be important and how to distinguish what is important from what is not.
