2. Ottawa Last November, our school was chosen to go to Ottawa for a student summit about child poverty. In 1989 the government promised that they would eradicate child poverty in Canada by the year 2000. This Summit was a way to remind the government that they have not kept their promise.

3. Poverty is a very serious problem that lots of people suffer from. Even though you may not see it, it’s everywhere.

4. Every school got asked to do a project We decided to do a week of awareness ( more like 3 days of awareness) ●We will be doing this the 19th, 20th and 21st of May.

5. These will be the White Elephant Sales the grade 6 class will do at noon throughout the week: I don’t wear it anymore.(clothes) I don’t play with it anymore.(toys) I don’t need it anymore.(other stuff)

6. 1st day- May 19th- I don't wear it anymore. We will have an “I’ve Outgrown It Sale” on Tuesday, May 19th. Please bring clothes that are too small or you just don’t want or need. All clothing will be laid out on tables in the foyer and everyone will have a chance to pick items they want or need. There will be a random draw to see which students get to go first. Everything will be free. It will be like reuse and recycle. All leftover clothes will be donated to the women's shelter in Fairview. Please bring clean clothes; wash before you bring.

7. 2nd day - I don’t play with it anymore Wednesday, May 20th, we will have the “I Don’t Play With It Anymore Sale” for toys and sports equipment, which are nice to have but not a necessity like clothing. So, everything will cost from 25 cents to a few dollars. Bring anything you think that other kids might like or could use. The money raised will be donated to a charity that fights poverty.

8. 3rd day - I don’t need it anymore Thursday, May 21st will be the “I Don’t Need It Anymore Sale” for any other things that you want to bring (or your Mom wants to get rid of) like blankets, books, household items and stuff like that.The cost will be from free to a few dollars. This is like an epic 3 day garage sale! Bring what you can!
