Distance and Diameter Venus is 0.723 AU from the sun while the Earth is 1 AU The distance between Venus and Earth is.287 AU The diameter of Venus is 12,104 km (it is.949 the size of Earth)
3
Orbit and Phases Orbit- Venus revolves around the sun in 243 days which is 7.5 months on earth Phases- Venus can be seen every 584 days (almost all sunlit areas is visible) After 221 days half the planet is visible After 71 days a thin slit of sunlit area is visible When Venus is moving towards the Earth it is seen in the early evening when its moving away it is seen in the early morning
4
Rotation and Axis Tilt Venuses axis is on a 178 degree tilt Venus rotates in the retrograde direct compared to its revolution Venus is the only planet that rotates clockwise while it revolves counter clockwise
5
Rotation and Axis Tilt continued It orbits the sun in 243 earth days Venus has the closest revolution to a circle only 0.007 off
6
Surface and Atmosphere Around Venus there are thick clouds of sulfuric acid The surface is arid (hot and dry) There is not and never was any liquid on Venus the temperatures are to high About 65% of the and is flat valleys, there are six mountain ranges and volcanoes that make up 35% of the land
7
Surface continued Coronae (when translated to English mean crowns), are ring like structures that range from 95 to 360 miles in diameter Tesserae (translated to tiles), are raised areas that many ridges have formed on in different directions The mass of Venus is 4/5 of earths the closest to earth size in our solar system
8
Atmosphere continued Atmospheric pressure on Venus is 1323 Lbs per square inch (90 time greater then Earths) Venus’s clouds are 55 degrees Fahrenheit (13 degrees Celsius) The planets surface Is 870 degrees Fahrenheit ( 465 Degrees Celsius) The temperatures are so different because of the green house affect
