He began training in four class primary school. When he has twelve years old, he was in boxing section Góral Żywiec club. In 1992 he went on to GKS Jastrzębie and next to Concordia Knurów. First Polish Seniors medium weight Championship title won in 1995. In 1997 won vice title in Light Heavyweight. In 1998 he stood on the podium european championship in Mińsk. He fought 120 fights, of which 108 won.

His first professional fights he fought in England in 1999. The rival was from RPA Israel Khumalo. Adamek won by K.O. In 2001,, Góral ” win International IBC title. He defeated Rudi Lupo from Belgium.

In 21th May 2005 Adamek fought the Paul Briggs for world champion WBC belt in United Center in Chicago. After 12 rounds he won the fight.

In 9th 2007 in Katowice he beat in 7 round Luis Pineda and won world champion IBC title in junior heavy.

In 11th December 2008 in Prudential Center in Newark he beat Steve Cunnigham and won world champion IBF title in junior heavy. He put him down three times but the duel lasted 12 rounds.

The older of the Kliczko brothers, Witalij stood in the Adamek way of world champion WBC title in Heavy weight.

In 10th March 2010 in Wrocław Adamek defeated by Witalij Kliczko. The arbiter stopped the fight in 10 round. Witalij Kliczko defend the belt 9 time in a row.
