3  Is the process where individual frames are drawn and then photographed.  To create the illusion of movement, each drawing differs slightly from the one before it.  The animators' drawings can be traced or photocopied onto transparent acetate sheets called cels, which are filled in with paints on the back side.  Each object or part of the animation can be done separately (every character can be drawn separately and composited with the static background).  Today, animators' drawings and the backgrounds are often scanned or drawn directly into a computer system.

6  Is an animation created by physically manipulating real- world objects and photographing them frame-by-frame to create the illusion of movement.  To create this type of animation we can use the computer software (e.g. iKITMovie Stop Motion software, Stop Motion Pro V6).  There are many different types of stop-motion animation, usually named after the medium used to create the animation: puppet animation, clay animation, cutout animation... etc.

10  it is often called claymation (but this term is trademarked though)  this technique uses figures made of clay or a similar modelling material (e.g. play dough) to create stop-motion animation  the figures may have an armature or wire frame inside of them, similar to the puppet animation, that can be manipulated to pose the figures
