2 What are we here to do? Increase participation as part of the activity and health agenda Give every person an opportunity to learn to swim Ensure the talent pathway works Win GOLD medals at the Olympics and Paralympics

3 Increasing the market We have recognised the need to change the culture in our pools We want to develop more customer contact Find new markets We have learnt a lot from our projects and removing barriers to swimming

4 How do we respond If we don’t change the culture we will loose market share Workforce training is key to this We have to engage with new markets We have to develop new innovative products We need flexible pools

5 Learn to Swim Charter for school swimming Training programmes for swimming teachers and CPD New National Plan for Teaching Top ups programme We are turning the corner

6 How do we respond We still need to engage with some communities The learn to swim moment has to be magical We need to connect with new markets children who don’t want competition There is still much to do

7 Talent Development We building our quality club network through Swim 21 We are developing the workforce at all levels with UKCC and the UKCF The Competition structure is world class and links to our performance programme We have strong links with Schools through ESSA and YST

8 How do we respond Clubs need to be considered as part of the pools business plan We all need to ensure we develop workforce training and development plans –people make pools work We need to plan our pools so that clubs can deliver for the community at affordable prices Partnership is the way forward

9 Gold medals There are now 140 nations in the Olympic pool The levels of performance is rising The professionalism is mind-blowing Nations are investing more

10 How do we respond We now have the right levels of investment The number of 50m pools is increasing but we need more Building a network of ITC getting the daily training environment right We need to develop some more world class coaches We need affordable appropriate access for our clubs

11 What can I do Work with us and help us drive change Build flexible pools with sound business plans Put Training and workforce development at the heart of your business Work with ASA products and services as they are based on sound educational principles and will help your business grow

12 Massive opportunity is now London 2012 Massive public investment in sport Interest has never been higher in driving up partipation
