Job Description Graphic designers-a.k.a. graphic artists- plan, analyze, and create solutions to communication problems. They find the most effective way to get a message out through paper or electronic art. They get paid by how much they charge to their client’s needs. They prepare sketches or layouts by aid of computer or by hand. Graphic designers can hire assistants to do other parts of the design. When the design is done and the client likes it, the designer gets paid.

Education and Training A bachelor’s degree in graphic design is usually required. Creativity, problem-solving skills, and communication are crucial. Knowledge of computer graphics and design software are also important to have. Graphic designers usually need 1-3 years of training experience before they get higher positions.
