1 Jay Chopra, Barb Moss, Courtney Gullion BPA Cares

2 Participation in this program means that members are engaging in worthwhile projects while having the opportunity to receive recognition from the national organization. It is also a way to receive positive public relations for the chapter and school in the community.

3 BPA cares can be broken down into 3 categories: Service Learning Awards Program, Special Recognition Awards Program, and Professional Awards Program

4 Service Learning Awards Community Service Award Environmental Action/Awareness Award Safety Awareness Award Service Learning Award (Individual) Special Olympics Award

5 Community Service To encourage local chapters to become actively involved in community betterment, school improvement, and election-year activities Qualifications: 100 hours or $500 to a service organization Examples: volunteering at an animal shelter in your community

6 Environmental Action/Awareness To promote participation in activities that prevent future damage to our environment and to embrace a “Green Society” Qualifications: 100 service hours or $500 to a service organization Examples: river clean-up

7 Safety Awareness To recognize local chapters for their involvement and development of safety programs Qualifications: 100 hours or $500 to a service organization Examples: Texting and driving awareness

8 Service Learning (Individual) To recognize local members involved with Service Learning Qualifications: 500 hours of service to community and have earned the President’s Volunteer Service Award within the same year Examples: volunteering, blood drives, food drives, shelters

9 Special Olympics To recognize local chapters involved with Special Olympics Qualifications: 100 service hours or $500 to a service organization Examples: Polar Plunge

11 ACTIVITY #1 Tyler has had a busy year! Not only has his school planted trees in the front of the campus, but they also have been doing safe driving campaigns at their school! Tyler’s chapter keeps getting better… they recently sponsored a blood drive! What BPA Cares awards did Tyler’s chapter qualify for?

14 BPA Marketing and Public Relations To inform the public off the meaning and objectives of BPA and to encourage the creation of media promotions Qualifications: minimum of one activity that promotes through media Examples: Facebook, Twitter, Newsletters

15 BPA Merit Scholar To recognize individual members and advisors for their knowledge of BPA Qualifications: Earning a minimum of a 85% of an objective test @ NLC

16 Chapter Activities Award Of Excellence To recognize local chapters for their activities and program of work and to motivate other chapters to do the same Qualifications: Submitted Application, all activity descriptions Find more info at indianabpa.org under the BPA Cares Section

17 Member Recruiter To encourage recruitment Qualifications: must be in good standing and recruit a minimum of 5 new members Examples: recruiting freshman, foreign exchange students, recently enrolled students

18 Membership Explosion (NEW) To recognize chapters who have recruited members to their chapters adding to the overall strength and size of our organization Qualifications: have at least 15 new members who have at least a 30% increase from their previous year’s membership

19 Social Media To become involved in the National Officer Team Social Media Challenges and to encourage chapters to publicize their local activities and events Qualifications: do 3 activities challenged by BPA and write one activity description online (500 words) with links to social media pages Find more on indianabpa.org!

Her chapter has been focused on creating a new Twitter for their chapter and doing the challenges from the officer team on their various social media websites! Nancy also earned an 85% on her objective test at NLC! What BPA Cares awards did Nancy and her chapter qualify for?

24 Advisor of the Year To recognize an individual who has made significant contributions to Business Professionals of America as a local Chapter Advisor Qualifications: Nomination form, narrative review of contributions, three letters of support (one from administrator, one from student), resume for nominee

25 Emerging Advisor of the Year To recognize an individual who has made contributions to BPA as a local chapter advisor with five years or less of service Qualifications: Nomination form, narrative review of contributions, three letters of support (one from administrator, one from student), resume for nominee

26 Emerging Professional of the Year To recognize registered alumni in good standing who made their mark as professionals and contributed to BPA within their first five years of service Qualifications: Nomination form, narrative review of their supportive contributions to BPA, three letters of support for the nominee, resume for the nominee

27 Hall of Fame Award To recognize those individuals who have made significant contributions at the national level to BPA Qualifications: nomination form, one page biography of contributions, 3 letters, state advisor letter of support for nominee, one page resume of BPA accomplishments, national staff and current student members are ineligible

28 Outstanding Service To recognize people who have dedicated effort to promote the objectives of career/technical organizations or provided outstanding service to BPA at the national level Qualifications: nomination form, list of national activities, list of state activities, list of community service, list of anything that gives them a head up in selection
