Bending process (Seam joint)
Objective: To bent the two sheet metal pieces to make a seam joint as shown in Figure. Tools required 1-Hand shears (snips) or mechanical snip. 2-Hammers 3-Measuring and marking tools (steel rule, scriber, Try square) 4- Bending machine . 5- stake or anvil 6- Sets of files Sequence of operations 1. Choose the sheet metal thickness to cut the required pieces by hand shear or mechanical shearing. 2- Checked the dimensions with the steel rule. 3. By using steel rule and scriber, marking the required bending length. 4. Use the bending machine to bent the two pieces nearly from 30 to 60 degrees with the sheet surface. 5. The suitable hammer is used with anvil to close the bent lengths 6. Insert the two bending length together. 7. Using the suitable hammer and anvil to firmly close the joint. 8..Trimining of any exceed materials by file Result The seam joint is thus obtained by bending process. Seam joint Bent pieces
