Adjectives An adjective is a word that describes somebody or something. An adjective can appear before or after the noun.

Adjectives The sun shone brightly on the joyful children playing in the park. Contented mums relaxed in small groups after clearing the debris left after the picnics – squashed tomatoes, greasy crisp packets, crumbled biscuits and lemonade, now gone flat. Somewhere a carefree blackbird sang delightedly. CHECK

Adjectives Alter the sense of the passage by changing the adjectives – if the adjective is positive, change it to a negative one, and so on.

Adjectives Have fun with adjectives, but be careful, too many are just ugly! On a dark, steep, craggy hillside stood an old, abandoned, creepy, haunted house.
