Ecuador gets its name from the equator, which runs through the country. The Andes Mountains in Ecuador are so high that they are covered in snow even on the equator. East of the Andes are tropical rain forests. The Galapagos Islands, 600 miles from shore, are part of Ecuador. It’s always hot and humid in the low regions and cool in the mountains.
