Finding The Excitement Of The Of Evangelism!
4
The Former Excitement of Public Preaching and Gospel Meetings! People on the Porch “Aware” Neighbors
5
From 1830-1950, It Was Exciting!
6
It gradually died when people went inside to watch TV!
7
1950-1975 The Excitement of Home Bible Studies People Home Watching TV Circle Of Associates Larger
8
That Excitement Died When 2 Out Of 3 Families Were Not At Home!
9
Today, The Excitement Has To Be Found In Our Part of “The Process” of Urban Evangelism It Is More Complex There Are More Actions To It
10
Three Elements Are The Same In All Of These Sinners who develop “moral respect” thru contact A “need” that creates desire for something worthwhile Teaching God’s Word
11
Understanding and finding your excitement in your place in “the process” of evangelism currently!
12
1. Few people are saved without contact and physical association with a good Christian! It all starts with you. Don’t isolate yourself. Watch your example, language & influence! The Process
13
2. Few people are saved without a Christian making a gentle introduction of a religious value! You have to introduce it. You can’t wait for them to introduce a religious discussion! Improve your recommendations & touches. The Process
14
3. Few people around you are saved without the good impact of your example, spirit and life. Be a good, warm, loving Christian! Remember that you are the rare bridge into their very urban world. The Process
15
4. Prospects will have to go through a period of observation, checking, testing and even challenging. Don’t be surprised, or discouraged. Expect doubt! Respond carefully and wisely. Get help with your response! The Process
16
5. Moral Certification has to come. It is a most important stage! It is when they decide that you and your brethren are genuine. Yet not much will happen until a “need” is realized! The Process
17
6. Few people act until a sense of “need”, that is strong enough to create desire, develops! It is hard for a Christian to always create a sense of need. Sometime you have to wait until providence shows them their need. The Process
18
7. Once “certification” and “need” are there, it is time to move quickly to the Word and to a study. Casually paint the picture of looking at a few verses of scripture together The Process
19
8. The excitement of a prospect, the Word, and a study is a strong and happy emotion. The flame of evangelism is lit! If you don’t feel you can teach it, you can sit in while someone else asks the questions and turns the pages. The Process
20
9. It is important that a year’s teaching follows a new conversion! New babes in Christ know less at baptism today The Process
21
10. The excitement of the conversion now mellows into the warmth of a new brother or sister for an eternity. Now you are ready for the next one. The Process
