Think-Pair-Share  How did looking at Big Time’s thoughts help us to know his character?  How did Big Time’s actions help us understand his character?  So, we can learn about characters from what they think and what they do. Can you think of any other ways that we can find out about characters?

4. Think-Pair-Share  Look at the reading goal again:  As we read, we will identify how the author develops a character through conversation.  In “Angela’s Eyes,” many of the characters are talking about Angela. What do their conversations tell us about them?

5. Listening  Listen to me read aloud from “Block Party - 145 th Street Style,” pages 139-141.  T-P-S  What does Peaches tell her friend about her mom getting married?  What can we infer about Peaches from this conversation?  What are some things that you remember about the characters of Peaches and Big Joe from earlier stories?

6. Silent reading: page 141-146 stop at “Maybe they moved…” 1. Why is Peaches in a bad mood? 2. On page 145, what does Squeezie say about Peaches and her mouth? What does this tell you about Peaches’s character? (write) 3. Why does Peaches say she won’t help Big Joe and her mother serve food? What does this tell us about Peaches? 4. How does Peaches change? What kind of character is she?
