Nilsson, SPD General Meeting1 Paul Nilsson, SPD General Meeting, Oct. 8, 2002 New tools and software updates Test beam analysis Software and Recently written tools, major updates and a little bit of work in progress What has been done so far; threshold scans, (angle scans), resolution and a few words about efficiency Infrastructure Very brief electronic logbook commercial Analysis

October 8, 2002P. Nilsson, SPD General Meeting2 Paul Nilsson, SPD General Meeting, Oct. 8, 2002 New tools and software updates Test beam analysis Recently written tools, major updates and a little bit of work in progress What has been done so far; threshold scans, (angle scans), resolution and a few words about efficiency Infrastructure Very brief electronic logbook commercial 1 Software and Analysis

October 8, 2002P. Nilsson, SPD General Meeting3 Software Updates Offline analysis code is located in the SPD account on the LXPLUS cluster (standard password). Other software available by mail request – also installed in the lab computers

October 8, 2002P. Nilsson, SPD General Meeting4 Threshold Scan Analysis – M.C. Version Selectable number of chips (1-10) Many changes in the underlying ROOT macros (25 files) ROOT menu Ex. Threshold distributions (PostScript file are automatically generated)

October 8, 2002P. Nilsson, SPD General Meeting5 In collaboration with Carmen, Alex, Peter and Mike VME Interface(s) for the Digital PILOT IN DEVELOPMENT Will be ready this week - hopefully

October 8, 2002P. Nilsson, SPD General Meeting6 VME Interface(s) for the Digital PILOT Memory test

October 8, 2002P. Nilsson, SPD General Meeting7 Decoder Tool For decoding raw data and consistency checks Given a Test Beam raw data file as input, it creates a web page with graphical hit information for a selectable number of events

October 8, 2002P. Nilsson, SPD General Meeting9 Test Beam 2002 Web – elogbook Electronic logbook with connections to Microsoft Access database via ASP/VBScript – supplement to paper logbook, not yet replacement HOWEVER Compared to paper logbook, elogbook is in many ways superior E.g. easy access – world wide but can be IP restricted, no need to make paper copies, searchable, cheap color pictures!!!, etc..

October 8, 2002P. Nilsson, SPD General Meeting12 Offline Analysis In collaboration with Karoly Banicz Code written by Karoly Major upgrade from last year (3 planes N planes) NEW: Can now be run in batch mode that will disable the histogram displays and the interactive root session lxplus > bsub TestBeam –batch input.par Job is submitted to default queue To view status of submitted job: lxplus > bjobs 141374 JOBID USER STAT QUEUE FROM_HOST EXEC_HOST JOB_NAME SUBMIT_TIME 141374 pnilsso EXIT 8nm lxplus063 lxbatch545 *h input.par Oct 5 21:01 Output data file is stored where specified in the input.par file. When the job is finished, LSF will send an email to the user. Code is stored in the SPD account on the LXPLUS, in the ~/analysis/release directory. Will only run on a Linux system Information/help on how to run the analysis code can be found in the accompanying README file LSF Batch Commands (HOWTO) SOLIS SACERDOTIBUS

October 8, 2002P. Nilsson, SPD General Meeting19 Offline Analysis - Efficiency UNDER INVESTIGATION… Elusive FIFO shifts prevent us from making nice plots Handpicked burst with no obvious shift show an efficiency of ~99.6%
