3 Training 1 description When: July 2013, 2 weeks Where: Belize City and PG Content: workshop to introduce MAC to the team (BFD, EDF, UCSB and Rare) they will be working with during the next 2.5 years

4 Training 1 Content The Government of Belize and the BFD, Belize’s fisheries management and Fisheries Act, MA framework, case studies, and catch shares principles Enforcement policy & regulations Fishermen organization principles and legal framework Qualitative research, direct observation tools, how to plan and facilitate meetings

5 Field work phase 1 description When: August – September 2013, 2 months Where: MA communities Content: – Qualitative research through direct observation and 1:1 interaction with fishermen – For all field phases, there will be mentoring and support from managed access managers, BFD, EDF, and Rare

6 Training 2 description When: October – November 2013, 5 weeks Where: TBD Content: training on Pride methodology, field data collection, and leadership

7 Training 2 Content Open standards for the practice of conservation Behavior change and social marketing theory Barrier removal and social context assessment Facilitating consensus building Case studies benefits from MA and hypothetical fisheries exercise Fish biological data collection methods Catch per unit effort data collection and analysis Training in monitoring for compliance

8 Field work phase 2 description When: October 2013, 5 months Where: MA Communities Content: – MA Access Design – Campaign research and base-line data collection

9 Training 3 description When: April 2014, 5 weeks Where: TBD Content: Research data analysis and campaign planning

10 Training 3 Content Research data analysis and campaign planning Social Marketing Tools, branding, and effective messaging Barrier removal strategy and fishermen exchanges Business and entrepreneurship National fisheries diversification and economic alternatives plan

11 Field work 3 description When: May 2014, 15 months Where: MA communities Content: – Preparing Campaign Launch (2 months) – Campaign Launch – Campaign Implementation MACs, supported by mentoring, launch a social marketing campaign designed to generate behavior changes in fishermen to expand Managed Access – Post campaign research (2 months)

12 Training 4 description When: December 2015, 4 weeks Where: TBD Content: – MACs analyze and present campaign results and report back to fishermen. – Draft a follow-up plan for BC sustainable impact
