How did Harriet Tubman make a difference? Harriet Tubman freed herself and many other people when she helped the Underground Railroad. She encouraged others to search for their freedoms. She still helps girls feel proud about being girls.

The Underground Railroad The Underground Railroad wasn’t really underground – it was just kept secret. It also wasn’t really a train – it did have “stations” where people helped hide the “passengers.”

Did Harriet Tubman make a difference in our world? People think that she is the greatest “conductor” in the history of the Underground Railroad. She helped more than 300 people escape slavery. 300 people is about 15 of our classrooms!

What is the importance of her actions and character? Actions: She helped others even when she was harmed. She joined the Underground Railroad. Character: She had lots of courage and wanted to help others. She was smart.

What traits or characteristics are unique to her or needed for her to make a difference? She had to be a strong person to fight against slavery. She had to be a smart person to outsmart the slave owners and people who chased them. She had to care about others to risk her own life to help theirs.

Does it matter where (or when) she was to make a difference to me? It doesn’t matter where she was because there has been slavery in other places. It doesn’t matter where she was because many people move around and helping them could still help people I know or care about. It doesn’t matter when she was alive because we always need someone as strong, smart, and courageous as her to fight for us.

Questions: How did Harriet Tubman make a difference? Did she help make a difference for the world? What was Harriet Tubman like? What did she have to be like?
