Getting A’s at York Get to know your course directors and TAs. You pay their salaries. Discuss your plans for assignments. Use their office hours from the beginning. As well, you’ll need them as references for jobs and grad school. Plan your time –For each hour of class 1 hour to prepare 2 hours to do assignments and study –5 classes = 15 hours class time & 45 hours outside class –have a schedule for each day and stick to it –no all-nighters or cramming

Use Support Services Centre for Academic Writing, 3rd floor, Ross South. All students should use this service. Register there early. Counselling & Development Centre (CDC), Behavioural Sciences Bld. –Time management –study skills –personal crises –help with petitions College Academic Advisor (eg.Terry Conlin, 237A in McLaughlin) the Undergraduate Director of your major department, and of the departments for your other courses. Centres for students with physical disabilities and learning disabilities.

Don’ts Thou shalt not plagiarize –reference all sources properly –write papers in your own words Penalities –minimum: failure in assignment/course –maximum: debarment from all universities Thou shalt not engage in harassment –sexual –racial –religious Procedures & penalties: –Outlined in Presidential Regulations
