1. Mr. Betz’s Social Studies Class -Education Background: Graduated from Wheeler H.S. In 2000 and went on to receive my Physical Education degree and run Division I Cross Country and Track and Field at Indiana State University. Go Sycamores! -I received my Social Studies degree with a Mediterranean Concentration while studying abroad at the University of Malta in Europe in 2004. -Taught Elementary P.E. for 2 years in P.G. County (Washington D.C.) -I received my Health degree from Indiana Wesleyan in 2007. -I went on to teach Physical Education here @ the Colonel for 3 years. -This is my 3rd year teaching 7 th grade Social Studies.

2. The Eastern World: The students be learning about the history, geography, government, and economics of the Eastern World.

3. The students will be graded on: Chapter tests A vast array of individual and group projects Homework (i.e. worksheets, maps, study guides, etc.)

4. ISTEP The ISTEP is taken in March and April The last two years the 7 th graders at Col. Wheeler had an average of 85 percent passing rate on the Social Studies portion of the ISTEP! That ranks us top 20 out of the 293 corporations in the state!!!! This year we are aiming for a 90 percent passing rate!
