5. How do you get Lyme Disease? Transported by Deer Ticks Caused by spiral-shaped bacteria called borrelia burgdorferi can happen to anyone who spends a lot of time outside

6. How do you know you have it? The 1 st sign is a rash Other symptoms include:  Fever  Headache  Fatigue  Pain in joints and muscles

7. Second Stage :Disseminated Painful swollen joints Knees more than 90% Came as fast as 24 hours Stiff neck Face can be paralyzed  Bells palsy

8. How can it be treated? You can take oral antibiotics Including……  Amoxicillin (a form of pennicilin)  Doxycycline (a form of tetracycline)

10. Spread from person to person… Evidence has proven that it cannot be spread from person to person If a person with Lyme disease donates blood, then there is a chance that the receiver may get the disease Lyme disease during pregnancy can’t effect the fetus

The Rash ►►►►►►►►► Called erythema migrans (or EM) Which means “wandering redness” Lighter in the center where the tick actually bit Sometimes the rash is just solid red 6-12 inches in diameter The bacteria goes into your bloodstream Can look like a bruise on darker skinned people Doesn’t appear 30-40% of the time Feels warm to touch
