PR 4.1 Extend the range of cost-efficient centrally-provided Information Technology services PR4.1.1 – Introduce a central helpdesk The Central Service Desk Project has been completed and the following helpdesks have now been converted to Service Desks: ITS WebCT Support The Library Lectopia Support FNAS FAHSS

PR 4.1 Extend the range of cost-efficient centrally-provided Information Technology services… cont PR4.1.2 – Introduce central email and calendaring The Project for the Email and Calendaring Service is in pilot stage –Staff in the Graduate School of Education moved to the Email and Calendaring Service in July 2009 –Email and Calendaring Service administration tools are being developed –Staff in the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences are due for migration to the Email and Calendaring Service in September 2009

PR 4.1 Extend the range of cost-efficient centrally-provided Information Technology services… cont PR4.1.3 Investigate feasibility of unified central printing service A study of student IT needs is planned for commencement in 2009.

4.2 Apply the University IM principles to all areas of corporate management-related information 4.2.3Implement a University research outputs repository (Excellence in Research for Australia) The ERA Project has been completed. The research outputs repository is located in the Library and is integrated with the Socrates system. 4.2.4Identify application owners and their roles Work is in progress to identify and agree on application owners for all Enterprise Systems

PR4.3 Identify and implement a common model for the administration of central enterprise systems An “ Enterprise Systems Support Principles ” document was approved by the VC ’ s IM Board in March 2009. This document defines the underlying rules and guidelines for the support of all Enterprise systems including responsibilities of System Owners and ITS. PR4.4 Identify and act on opportunities for efficiency gains through application of technology to business processes throughout the University PR4.4.5 Develop University-wide reporting strategy Resources and timeframe for this initiative are due for consideration in 2009 PR4.4.6 Extend use of Single Sign-On The Single Sign-On application can now be used to integrate applications into SSO. Examples are @mail, Service Desk and Library resources

PR4.5 Build efficient, sustainable and effective IT foundations for the University’s activities PR4.5.1 Upgrade the core network Discretionary funding for this project has been sought PR4.5.2 Upgrade the PABX The PABX has been upgraded PR4.5.3 Extend wireless coverage across the University Discretionary funding for this project has been sought PR4.5.4 Improve security of core systems A new Firewall and Spam/Antivirus capability are in the process of being installed. PR4.5.5 Extend Videoconferencing facilities This initiative is on hold awaiting funding
