PRY Implementation - Contents l Fit with Experimental Devices (& services connections) l Fit with Tracker Cryo l Fit with Floor & Trench l Fit with Mezzanine l Fit with Services in General l ToF1 Assembly l Fit with RF Waveguides l Absorber Change Jason Tarrant – Integration Engineering

Fit With Experimental Devices l Spectrometer Solenoid (TD-1189-1791)  General Clearances Vessel vacuum connection (requires extending) SS Tie- Down beam PRY SS

Fit With Experimental Devices l Spectrometer Solenoid (TD-1189-1791)  SS Tie-Downs  Access required to disconnect when PRY in place PRY SS

Fit With Experimental Devices l Absorber Focus Coil (TD-1189-1790)  General Clearances H2 transfer line Vessel vacuum connection (requires extending) H2 vacuum line Gate valve PRY AFC

Fit With Experimental Devices l Absorber Focus Coil (TD-1189-1790)  Gate Valve  Access required to operate the gate valve and clearance for the handle  H2 System Pipes  Non-flexible services to and from AFC

Fit With Floor & Trench l False Floor (TD-1189-1771)  General Clearances False floor Under floor supports for the PRY Supports where ramp to be cut back Fixed – levelled plate(s) for the PRY Current trench roof supports & services Cuts for South Mezzanine legs Base/Platform/Plate Design James Watson

Fit With Floor & Trench l False Floor (TD-1189-1771)  General Clearances Temporary moving platform guides AFC offline moving platform SS offline moving platform

Fit With South Mezzanine l South Mezz (TD-1189-1848)  General Clearances Raised platforms to avoid clash with PRY Cut in platform for absorber change & PRY installation Front edge platforms removed for Step IV (main handrail shown- off for this view)

Fit With Services l PRY & Services (TD-1189-1794)  General Clearances Services to be routed along PRY, esp. comp hoses & magnet cables Magnet Cable Path H2 System Pipes

Fit With ToF1 Assembly l ToF1 Cage & PRY l ToF1 assembly can only be performed without north-upstream PRY ToF1 Assembly Arm Tracker Cryo

Fit With Waveguides l Partial pre-step V / VI installation (TD-1189-1794)  General Clearances RF System Waveguides under false flooring Pillars and columns supporting Step IV PRY

Absorber Change l Procedure to extract AFC from PRY (TD-1189-1697) l Note times do not include fill/purge of H from the hydrogen system! At operationRemove services obscuring AFC (excluding H purge) [5 days TBC] Remove part of handrail, mezzanine cut out & add bar to protect the AFC (when removing the middle plates) [0.5 day]

Remove outer-upper doublers south middle-upper plate Slide out south middle-lower plate at 11.5 degree angle Before sliding out of lower doublers completely rotate vertically Lift up and away [1 day]

Remove upper outer doublers & north middle-upper plate Remove middle legs Slide out north middle-lower plate [1 day] (for north side middle plates) Uncouple bellows between AFC & SSs [1 day] Remove AFC [0.5 day] Change Absorber [? day TBD]

Conclusion l Detailed review of fit of PRY with various ‘components’ of the MICE Hall have shaped the PRY design to significantly reduce / eliminate the chance of a clash. l The design of the PRY allows for AFC Absorber changes with the minimum of removal of the PRY, reducing time and risk.
