Quarter Spin: How long does your spin last? Bridget Sanelli Kim Lor Mrs. McNelis Block 3 AP Statistics

Introduction Quarter Spin 1.Subjects spin the quarter however they like 2.We time how long the spin lasts from when it leaves their hands until it lays flat on the desk 3.Subjects are given 3 trials and we record the longest time 4.We recorded gender and whether or not the subject played a sport as well

Overall Data Shape: Unimodal with a slight left skew. Center: Median - 13.62 seconds Range: (8.06, 19.07)

Normality Not a normal data set, which can be seen by the waves/ curves in the graph

Partner Data Bridget Shape: Right skewed, unimodal Center: Median- 13.375 seconds Range: (8.06,19.07) 11.01 Kim Shape: Bimodal Center: Median- 14 seconds Range: (8.82,18.21) 9.39 Comparison Kim’s data had a larger median than Bridget’s data. Bridget had a larger range than Kim.

Marginal Distribution Gender Female: 23/31= 74.9% Male: 8/31= 25.81% Play a Sport No: 8/31= 25.81% Yes: 23/31= 74.9% *** SAME MARGINAL DISTRIBUTIONS***

Conditional Distribution Conditional of Sport Conditional of Gender Association of Variables Because the Marginal distribution of one of the variables does NOT equal the conditional of the other variable, we know that gender and whether or not someone plays a sport are NOT independent of each other. Marginal Distributions

Conclusion Data was unimodal with slight left skew Median 13.62 Not a normal distribution Categorical values are not independent of each other
