What is child labor? "Child labor" is work for children under age 18 that in some way harms or exploits them (physically, mentally, morally, or by blocking children from education). Why is cause of child labor? The primary cause of child labor is parental poverty

Child Labor In 2000, the ILO estimates, "246 million child workers aged 5 and 17 were involved in child labor, of which 171 million were involved in work that by its nature is hazardous to their safety, physical or mental health, and moral development.

Child Labor Child labor accounts for 32% of the workforce in Africa 22% in Asia 17% in Latin America 1% in US, Canada, Europe and other wealthy nations

Child labor can be reduced by economic development that raised family incomes and living standards widespread, affordable, required and relevant education enforcement of anti-child labor laws (along with compulsory education laws) changes in public attitudes toward children that elevated the importance of education
