Who are we? People National Rankings: 7th overall in Geosciences 3rd in plain old geology 2nd in geochemistry

What do we study? Rocks, of course, but much more: Earthquakes Volcanoes Mountains Landslides Glaciers Rivers Oceans Life on Earth and Elsewhere(?) Groundwater Oil, Gas Mineral Resources Climate (Past, Present, Future)

Kilimanjaro in 1993 2003 We study lots of cool things and hot topics Hubbard Glacier, Alaska Mayon Volcano, Phillipines

There is an obvious societal relevance to many of the things we study — geologic hazards, energy resources, water resources Surface rupture and building damage from Taiwan earthquake

Where do we study? Everywhere...

Education is just as important to us as research Intermediate & Upper-Level class sizes range from 10- 30 students
