Guiding Successful Implementation of Educator Effectiveness Understand successful educator effectiveness implementation Reflect and analyze on district effectiveness implementation Determine next steps for effectiveness implementation
3
Understanding Successful EE Implementation Innovation Configuration for EE Innovation Configuration (IC) maps identify and describe the major components
4
What does this guide help me do? Where are we as a district or school with building capacity? Where are we as a district or school in our adoption of processes? Where are we as a district or school with making informed decisions? Where are we as a district or school with ensuring sustainability?
5
Levels of EE Implementation Level 1: Initiating steps, but not meeting basic System requirements Level 2: Meeting some basic requirements and making progress on other System elements. Level 3: Implementing all basic EE System elements Level 4: Applying practices that move beyond basic EE System implementation Level 5: Refining systemic structures and practices that enhance individual, school, or district-wide learning
6
Categories of EE Implementation District Infrastructure Planning Training Conducting the EE Cycle Monitoring Integration (Optional)
7
District Infrastructure Staff Allocation Level 3: District Individuals responsible for EE System management, support, and oversight are designated Budget Level 3: Line item budget categories related to EE are established Policies and Procedures Level 3: Major policies and procedures are in place
8
District Infrastructure Communication Level 3: Communication about policies, procedures, and supports occurs with all major stakeholders Technology Level 3: Evaluation management system and plan are in place for data acquisition, storage, transfer and user support Time Level 3: Adequate time is allocated for successfully completing the minimum requirements of the System Other Resources Level 3: Other resources needed to successfully implement minimum System requirements are identified
9
Current Status Based on your level of implementation across the sub- categories, assess your implementation level for the District Infrastructure category. Use the same approach to determine your district or school’s current level of overall educator effectiveness implementation later.
10
Current Status Now, identify next steps for District Infrastructure based on your current level of implementation. You can use the Next Steps section and the example stretch actions in your Implementation Guide. Identify a goal date by which to have completed the step and the person(s) responsible for the action.
11
Reaching the Next Level Stretch Actions are examples of potential growth strategies to employ in your district or building to move from one level of implementation to the next. For instance, District Implementation Stretch Actions might include: District and school organizational charts reviewed for existing roles and functions related to teacher and principal evaluation and to identify opportunities to convert or augment positions for needed EE roles; Providing PD and training about developing, analyzing, and using test results in the classroom, school, and district. Others included in the Implementation Guide.
12
Guiding Questions How can EE fit into the continuous improvement process? What have you done to make this happen? What current structures and processes can you leverage?
13
Force Field Analysis Force Field Analysis: analyzing the forces for and against a change, Purposes: Determine whether to change Increase your chances of success by leveraging support
14
District Force Field Analysis What impedes EE implementation? What fosters EE implementation?
15
Action Goal(s) Template Goal(s): What are the actionable priorities for implementing EE? Strategies/Activities: What steps will you take to reach your goal? What tasks will you complete along the way? Timeline/Staff: What is your timeline to implement the strategies? With whom will you collaborate to reach the goal? Evaluation Criteria/Evidence: What evaluation criteria or evidence will you use to show that strategies have been implemented and are successful? Benchmarks: How are we doing? What are the benchmarks by which you will measure your activities? Sustainability Statement: How will you sustain your efforts (Year 1)? How will you institutionalize your change efforts? Years 2-3
16
Guiding Questions to Next Steps What do you see as major insights or breakthroughs regarding EE implementation? What are your next steps for ongoing learning and successful implementation? What will you now do differently?
