The Desire Women wanted to be equal to a man They wrote the “Declaration of Sentiment” and changed a few words with the Declaration of Independence “We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men and WOMEN are created equal” They were still not given voting rights

Important People Elizabeth Cady Stanton Held first women’s rights convention called the Seneca Falls Convention in 1848 In 1840 she went with Lucretia Mott to the World Anti- Slavery Convention as a delegate Lucretia Mott Held Seneca Falls Convention with Elizabeth C. Stanton Went to Anti-Slavery Convention in England

Sojourner Truth (Isabella Baumfree) Freed of slavery in 1827 Got the name because she traveled throughout the country preaching and arguing for women’s rights and abolition of slavery Tall muscular intimidating woman At a women’s rights convention in 1851 she won approval with her speech that urged men to grant women their own rights

Accomplishments Not until the Seneca Falls Convention was it that women were granted rights In 1866 Mott joined Stanton and Lucy Stone to establish the American Equal Rights Association Susan B. Anthony came later in 1854 and devoted her life to make sure all women had rights and is known for making complete legal equality of the two sexes
