8 Honduras  Children and mothers spend 6 hours a day fetching water and carrying it home on their heads in big pots.  Electricity is not dependable and goes out at least 3 times a day.  In 1998 Hurricane Mitch destroyed water systems and killed 1,000s of people.  Honduras has big debt and a corrupt government.  42% of people have no access to clean drinking water.  Most babies die of waterborne diseases before their first birthday.

11  Over population reduces the quality of the water. Pollution comes from homes, factories and animals.  Nearly 13 million people lack access to a clean water supply (15%).  Only 1/3 of the river systems in the Philippians are a good source of public water.
