1 B.A.S.I.C. Training

2 1 Peter 1:15-16 -- But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: "Be holy, because I am holy.” This is one of the most challenging verses of all.

3 What Does God Expect? He assures us we have been called by a Holy God. He assures us we have been called by a Holy God. He assures us that we can be holy too. He assures us that we can be holy too. He commands us to be holy as He is holy. He commands us to be holy as He is holy. Can we ever be holy in God’s eyes? Can we ever be holy in God’s eyes?

4 2 Corinthians 7:1 -- Since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.

5 It’s all about perfecting holiness: No matter how good we are, we can strive to be better. We bear responsibility for purifying our hearts, minds, souls and bodies. We do it because of reverence for God.

6 There was a time… We USED TO walk like the world walks. 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 -- …Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor …will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

7 The time has passed for wicked behavior 1 Peter 4:3-4 -- For you have spent enough time in the past doing what pagans choose to do—living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing and detestable idolatry. They think it strange that you do not plunge with them into the same flood of dissipation, and they heap abuse on you.

8 We must leave behind the darkness… Romans 13:12-14-- The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy. Rather, clothe yourselves in the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the sinful nature.

9 But now… Psalm 37:27-28a -- Turn from evil and do good; then you will dwell in the land forever. For the LORD loves the just and will not forsake his faithful ones…. We must totally turn from evil and do what is good.

10 Proverbs 16:17 -- The highway of the upright avoids evil; he who guards his way guards his life.

11 1 Corinthians 5:6-8 -- …Don't you know that a little yeast works through the whole batch of dough? Get rid of the old yeast that you may be a new batch without yeast—as you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed. Therefore let us keep the Festival, not with the old yeast, the yeast of malice and wickedness, but with bread without yeast, the bread of sincerity and truth.

12 Change From The Inside Out! Romans 2:28-29 -- A man is not a Jew if he is only one outwardly, nor is circumcision merely outward and physical. No, a man is a Jew if he is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written code. Such a man's praise is not from men, but from God. Aren’t Christians the same way?

13 Matthew 12:33 --"Make a tree good and its fruit will be good, or make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad, for a tree is recognized by its fruit.”

14 Philippians 4:8 -- Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable— if anything is excellent or praiseworthy— think about such things. How do we purge the bad? By replacing it with good.

15 2 Peter 3:14 -- So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him. It is up to us to make the effort. God sets the goal for us at SPOTLESS and BLAMELESS. We need all the Lord’s strength to help us achieve purity.
