7. www.basrat.org Fieldwork Placements t All undergraduate students have to complete over 400 hours of clinical work in fieldwork placement, supervised by registered professionals. 400 hours is the minimum not the usual. t These usually involve working in private clinics, professional clubs, health & fitness industry, plus placements with Orthopaedic Consultants. t All 400 hours are in M/S area and form an essential part of the U/G training.

8. www.basrat.org Professional Requirements t All BASRaT graduate members will have completed an approved undergraduate degree and therefore reached the required levels of competence associated with these. t All degree programmes have been approved by BASRaT and have obviously undergone the rigorous quality standards set by the QAA and the HE’s own internal quality mechanism of validation

9. www.basrat.org What does BASRaT do? t As professional body, provides national register of all Graduate Sport Rehabilitators. t Ensures all GSR’s are trained to a high, equitable standard & fit for purpose. t Provides Professional Indemnity and Malpractice Insurance for all full members (£5million). t Provides code of ethics and process for disciplinary procedures. t Both provides and requires a significant CPD portfolio for all existing members. t Provides an informative and supportive Website for the professionals, and indeed browsing public: www.basrat.org

Summary t All GSRs are trained to the same minimum standard (BSc (hons) level). t One professional body represents all GSRs t BASRaT wants to see an integrated and strictly regulated sports medicine profession both nationally and globally, with clear minimum standards. t BASRaT is not for profit and all activities are professionally driven. t BASRaT is inclusive of other professionals, e.g. Physiotherapists as Associate Members.
