2 Global Issues Summer School Syllabus 8:10am-1:35pm – Room 36 Teacher: Mr. Long ATTENDANCE: During summer school you may not miss more than one and a half days. There are no EXCUSED absences! Three tardies = ½ day absence – Tardies will be STRICTLY enforced! MATERIALS: You must bring the following items everyday: 1) Three ring binder divided into three sections or three separate folders Sections/Folders: A) Warm-upsB) Notes C) Returned Work 2) Lined paper or a spiral notebook. Note: If you take notes in a spiral that counts as section “B” of the binder or folder “B” 3) Pens & #2 pencils HOMEWORK: Is due in class the next day. If it is not finished by the time I collect it, the assignment is LATE LATE WORK: Late work will be accepted for ½ credit. You have until the end of the week to turn in any late work

3 MISSING WORK: Although there are no excused absences, I will accept work if you bring a note from a parent the next day. No note means you cannot makeup any assignments and any homework you turn in is late All homework & classwork will be posted on the assignment board in the room Homework will also be posted on http://cchs.ccusd.org GRADES: Your points divided by total possible points Classwork/homework/tests/quizzes/projects are 80% of the grade Participation is 15% of the grade Warm-ups are 5% of the grade…checked at the end of each week In class assignments10-20 pointsA= 90-100% Homework assignments10-20 pointsB= 80-89% Binder/Folder check25 pointsC= 70-79% Notebook quizzes15-20 pointsD= 60-69% Tests100 pointsF=59% or below. Projects50 points7-9%= +, 0-2% = - Warm-ups10 points per week Participation25 points

4 Electronic Device Policy: Culver City High School does not allow electronic devices (ipods, cell phones, two-ways, game boys, etc) to be seen or heard from 8:10am-1:35pm Any devices that are seen or heard in class will be confiscated and given to the Principal per school policy. These items are a distraction to your education so please turn them off and keep them out of sight. No exceptions! Behavior Standards and Expectations: 1.Respect your teachers, classmates, and school. Any form of disrespect (including foul language) will not be tolerated. Respecting property is also a key component in the classroom. Refrain from writing on desks or class materials. 2.Remain in your seat at all times, unless directed to move by a teacher. 3.Caps or hoods may not be worn in class or inside school buildings. All hats must be Culver City High School issued. The general consequences for violation of class rules are as follows: 1 st offense – Verbal warning, 2 nd offense – Student/Teacher conference 3 rd offense – Parent phone call and possible conference 4 th offense: Referral to Summer School Principal/ dropped from course
