To concurrently amend OPTN policies to allow members to participate in the research study Goal of the Proposal

OPOs accurately document HIV test results for every deceased donor Before recovering and transplanting organs infected with HIV: Transplant hospital must confirm the potential recipient is known to be HIV infected prior to transplant Transplant hospital must participate in an institutional review board approved research protocol that meets the requirements in the Final Rule How the Proposal will Achieve its Goal

This proposal is a first step to amend OPTN policies to allow members to participate in the research study A second proposal will be distributed for public comment in January 2015 with additional policy changes and requirements Additional Background
