Ballast - noun The hot air balloon rose when the water used as ballast was let go. Predict the meaning of the word. Definition: Heavy material used to make a ship steady or control the rising and falling of a vessel like a balloon

Buoyant – adj. The life jackets are buoyant enough to support a 200-pound person. Predict the definition of the word. Definition: Able to float; Cheerful and carefree

Clamber - verb I clambered onto the roof to get the kite. Predict the meaning of the word. Definition: To climb awkwardly

Pique – noun/verb Pandora’s curiosity was piqued by the mysterious box that she was not supposed to open. Predict the definition of the word. Definition: To arouse or excite; a feeling of resentment caused by being ignored, insulted, etc

Probe -verb I probed the snow with my ski pole to determine how deep it was. Predict the meaning of the word. Definition: poke or prod; to examine closely; a long, slender instrument used to examine a wound or part of the body; a thorough investigation.
