UNDP-UNEP Poverty- Environment Initiative MoU signed between UNDP and UNEP in 2005 to enhance collaboration in areas of common interest (3 areas: climate change, poverty and environment initiatives and other environmental endeavors). PEI brings together the environmental capacity and networks of UNEP - with the UNDP’s expertise and capacity to support country-led processes via its CO presence. Partnerships with Ministries of Environment, Ministries of Planning and Development and Ministries of Finance. There are significant opportunities to link PEI with the MDG Achievement Fund, to help countries accelerate progress towards the MDGs. PEI is working within the wider context of One UN pilots and UNDAF processes

UNDP-UNEP Poverty- Environment Initiative PEI: Regions and Countries Africa  UNDP-UNEP regional PEI team in Nairobi  10 country programmes: Burkina Faso, Kenya, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mozambique, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, Botswana Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, Botswana Asia  UNDP-UNEP Regional PEI team in Bangkok  Country programmes established in Vietnam and Bhutan  Target to launch PEI activities in : Bangladesh, Laos, Cambodia, Nepal and East-Timor
