What games do you play? Do you play with a ball? Do you play board games?

Kids play all over the world. Every culture has its own games. There are many ways to have fun!

MANCALA Mancala is a counting game. It was first played in Africa. You can play with seeds. You can play with stones.

Players pick up the stones. They drop them into the bins. It seems easy, but it is hard to play well!

PACHISI Pachisi comes from India. Players move pieces on a board. Each player wants to get to the middle first.

Long ago, rulers in India played pachisi. Today, people play in other countries, too.

GAMES WITH STRING The Inuit are native people. They are from North America. People in the Inuit community learn to make string shapes. It is their tradition.

Children all over play games with string. Cat´s Cradle is one string game.

SOCCER People all over the world play soccer. More people play soccer than any other game!

Players run. They kick the ball. They cannot touch it with their hands. Players often wear uniforms.

A BATTLE GAME A game was invented in China. It is hundreds of years old. It is played with stones on a board. The game is called Go.

The game is a battle. Players trap each other´s stones. They must plan well. It takes skilll to win!

MARBLES Long ago, children in Egypt played a game with marbles. Kids still play marbles today. Kids collect marbles, too.

Marbles come in many colors. Some special marbles are called cat´s eyes. They sparkle like the eyes of a cat.
